While we encourage prevention and the maintenance of good dental health at MAEH Dental, we understand that your teeth will need a helping hand from time to time. Treatments such as lost fillings, dental cavities and cracked teeth can usually be repaired, and it’s always better to treat problems sooner rather than later!
A white filling consists of a composite material, offering a tooth-coloured, mercury-free solution for various dental needs. These fillings are ideal for repairing broken or decayed teeth, restoring them to their natural shape and colour by shade matching to your natural teeth. They are also commonly used for cosmetic purposes, such as fixing chipped or uneven front teeth. Many of our patients also prefer to replace old silver fillings with composite options to improve the aesthetics of their smile.
Inlays and Onlays are custom-made dental restorations that fill extensive cavities or repair damaged teeth. They are an alternative to fillings or crowns, but each tooth is assessed individually so as to determine the best treatment option in each case.
An inlay fills a cavity on the inner surfaces of a tooth and an onlay sits on top of a tooth and covers more of the outer surfaces and cusps (tips) of a tooth more like a partial cap or crown.
Both can offer improved strength and durability as they are made in the dental laboratory using high grade materials which are suitable for the heavy forces the teeth, in particular the molars, are subjected to.
Inlays and Onlays are made in aesthetically pleasing tooth coloured material, shade matched to your tooth colour to blend into your smile perfectly.
The process comprises of two appointments- the preparation appointment where your tooth is prepared for the treatment, and the fit appointments where the new restoration is precisely cemented and fitted into place.
A root canal treatment is used to treat and remove infected tissue within and around the tooth root, usually caused by a fracture, decay or injury following a trauma. The root canal space is meticulously cleaned and then sealed with a filling material and dental restoration. This allows us to relieve dental pain and save the tooth. While root canal treatments may sound daunting to some patients- they don’t deserve such a negative reputation- we will ensure your comfort is our priority throughout the procedure.
While we always try to do everything we can to rescue and restore a natural tooth, sometimes the only option is a tooth extraction treatment. There are a variety of reasons why we may recommend a tooth extraction for example when a tooth is irreparably decayed or damaged, infected or impacted wisdom teeth, or mobile primary teeth. If this is the case then we normally recommend replacing the tooth as soon as possible in order to prevent further complications. The prospect of a tooth extraction can be an intimidating one for many patients, however we will aim to make the treatment as comfortable as possible for you.
